Millwood Lane is a seventies contemporary with a ton of soul, tucked away in the woods of Great Falls. It was a hidden gem listed right in plain sight on the MLS. We fell hard for the high ceilings, incredible light and great bones the moment we saw it and shared our vision with the seller to bring this special home that she grew up in back to life.
Lauren had her work cut out for her because the actual footprint of the property was small. It only has three bedrooms upstairs. She opened up the kitchen to bring sweeping views of the woods to the entire back of the house. A tiny eating area was swapped with an awkward second living room creating a spacious dining room and cozy hearth room that both feel like they were always meant to be that way.

As partners, we analyzed the value that our improvements would add to the property from the perspective of both the potential sales price and the personal enjoyment of whoever ended up living there. Expanded deck or circular driveway? Two shower heads or a larger closet? Is it worth it to add an egress window for a bonus room if we can’t list it as a legal bedroom?
We renovated and brought this property to market during the darkest days of the Corona Virus shutdown and faced our fair share of unique challenges. Materials were delayed, contractors couldn’t overlap and we never even stepped food in the property at the same time as our partners until after it was well under contract and stay at home orders were lifted. In the end, we made it all work and the result was a stunningly beautiful, thoughtful home purchased by a lovely couple seeking a safe escape from the city and quieter pace of life.
